Château Lafite winery is located on the left bank of the Gironde estuary on the gravelly soil of the commune of Pauillac in the Médoc AOC in northwestern Bordeaux. The first written mention of this winery dates back to the 13th century. The name 'Lafite' originates from the Gascon dialect of Occitan, in which the expression la hite means "hillock". According to the Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855, Château Lafite winery is one of the five brightest stars in the region - its bottles are the dream of all serious wine lovers and collectors.
